A Quilt and A Class

Cheryl has completed the Paris in the Fall BOM sample and it is GORGEOUS! The pattern cover does not do it justice! Whitney will get it quilted soon and then we can hang it up for you all to see. The kits are available as a BOM or just a one time purchase.

We also have an update to the class schedule. Mary Dyer will be teaching the Over the River and Through the Woods quilt. This two part class will cover the embroidery technique used, the flying geese blocks and putting the whole quilt together. Check the class schedule on the website for more information. Whitney will have everything uploaded later today. We have Mary's sample hanging high in the shoppe so I couldn't get a picture of it, but here is a similar example.

Until next time...

Congratulations Cheryl!!

Our friend and teacher here at the Shoppe, Cheryl Miller, won a first place ribbon at the Arizona Quilter's Guild Quilt Show for her quilt 'Autumn's Bounty!'  She also won third place for a beautiful Kim Diehl quilt she worked VERY hard on! We are very proud of her!! Congratulations Cheryl : )

Just One Star

Moda and fabric designers, Laurie Minnick and Polly Simpson, have teamed up for the Just One Star challenge. The goal of this Quilts of Valor project is to make 100 quilts in 100 days. They need your help to make 1800 blocks! The deadline for sending in your block(s) is May 1, 2011, but if you bring yours into the Shoppe by March 31st, Cheryl Miller has offered to send your block(s) in along with hers. For more information, click here.

Until next time...

Bundles Galore

Alice and Lin have been busy the past few weeks putting together beautiful bundles of coordinating fabrics. Fat eighth bundles, eighth yard bundles, fat quarter bundles and 9" x 22" woven bundles are all great for making miniatures or for adding to your scrap basket!!

Catch-Up Day 2

In my last post, I forgot to mention one of the biggest pieces of news around the Shoppe over the past six weeks. We have a new employee! Alice works with us now on Mondays and Wednesdays. She is a great addition to the Shoppe!! Come in and meet her - her enthusiasm will definitely brighten your day!

In other news, apparently a new trend arose while I was on my blog hiatus. The 'twister' tool has quickly become the hottest new thing around here! Our fabulous teacher and dear friend, Cheryl Miller, has been whipping out samples using this new notion. Here are a few she has finished:

The twister tool is available here at the Shoppe! They are blast to use. Don't miss out!!

We have also received Jo Morton's new lines since I last posted - 'Luminarias' and 'Toasty' are now available. Pictures will be up on the website today!

Until next time...

Hello Again!!

As you have probably noticed, this year has not started off so well blogwise :/ I think it has been about six weeks since I last posted and that is unacceptable!! The last month and a half has gone by so quickly! When you own a quilt shop, the beginning of the year can be overwhelming with the counting of old inventory, ordering of new inventory, the start of new clubs and blocks of the month and the overall task of rearranging after the holidays. While this is a lame excuse not to blog, it's the only explanation I have, so thank you for hanging in there! I will try and use this week to catch you all up on what's been going on around here, starting with new fabrics.

Since I blogged last, we have received the following collections:

'Hurrah' by Jo Morton

'Penelope' by Lakehouse

New 'Bonnie Blue Basics' by Paula Barnes
Fabrics coming soon:
'Luminarias' by Jo Morton
'Toasty' by Jo Morton
'American Valor' from Marcus Brothers
'Maxine' by Robert Kaufman

I also want to let all of our OWQS members know that starting today, February 22nd, you will receive 25% off all books and patterns. This offer is good through next Friday, March 4th.

Until next time...

Happy New Year!!

We hope you have a safe and happy New Year!!
